FAQ's in English

Here you can find answers to some of the frequently asked questions that volunteers have put to us. If your question is not listed, please contact us.

1. What is expected of a volunteer?

Being available to give help in your neighbourhood and being willing to show the love of God through the help you offer. You can find more on what is expected of volunteers in the code of conduct HiP has formulated.

 2. Why have I never been approached for a help request and what can I do about it?

First of all, we are dependent on the demand of help requests. They are filtered in categories and distance. It may be that no help request has come in within your neighbourhood or categories. When you would like to offer help, but have never been asked, you could indicate that you are willing to offer help in a wider area than your own neighbourhood and in other categories.

3. Is it possible to temporarily sign out as a volunteer?

Yes, that is possible. We will list you as non active for a certain or indefinite period of time. When you are able to help again, we will reactivate your profile.

4. Do I need to report back to HiP when I have finished the help request?

No, that is not necessary, unless you have made a different agreement with HiP. You offer help on behalf of your local church. The contact person of your church also knows about the help you are offering and he or she is the first person to talk to.

5. Can I refuse a help request, when it’s not convenient?

Yes, you are a volunteer. You have the right to refuse a help request, be it because you don’t have time or the help request is too difficult.

6. I would like to offer help, but my church doesn’t participate in HiP. Can I still help out?

When you would like to offer help, but your church doesn’t participate in HiP, we recommend contacting your benevolence minister or pastor. On our website you can find information on how to register as participating church.

7. I would like to offer help, but HiP isn’t active in my city. What can I do?

On this website you can find lots of information on HiP. One thing you can do is to alert your benevolence minister or pastor to the work of HiP. You can contact Henrike van Diermen for further steps.

8. How will I be informed?

A digital newsletter will be sent approximately once every 2 months. On the website you can also find lots of news.

9. I have a question, complaint or remark. What do I do?

Your opinion is a valuable resource to us. You can fill out a contact form or send an email to info(at)stichtinghip.nl

Go to "Hulp bieden" to sign up as volunteer.
